THE MICHEL RONAY SERIES
MARSEILLE TAXI is the first book in the series about Michel Ronay, a Marseille Taxi driver, whose life is one hilarious roller coaster ride after another. He gets involved with the shady characters in the underworld as he tries out money making schemes whilst the police try and recruit him as an informer. Luckily his second wife, Monique along with all his mistresses try and keep him on the straight and narrow but friends tend to lead him astray whilst giving him good advice as they drink steadily in Ricky’s bar.
AUGUST IN GRAMBOIS is the next book which chronicles Michel’s attempts to enjoy a restful holiday at his villa in Grambois where he hopes that he can find some peace and quiet after the hectic life in bustling Marseille. However, his holiday is far from restful as one situation after another develops around his efforts to relax and he is glad when the holiday is over and he can return to the busy streets on the run up to Christmas.
CHRISTMAS IN MARSEILLE is the third book which brings Michel almost to tears as he struggles once again with all his relatives as well as the police and gangsters that interfere with his plans for Christmas. His mistresses add some considerable pressure and stress to the run up and he determines to break away from it all and start a new life with his fiancé in Le Touquet where he plans to start a business with his cousin Henri.
CATASTROPHE IN LE TOUQUET is the fourth book that leads on from his carefully made plans at Christmas. He and his fiancé, Josette, leave Marseille and drive north to Le Touquet where they intend to start a new life together. Once again things do not go smoothly after he meets Madame Christiane and begins a torrid affair with this wealthy woman. Henri gives up on him as everything gets hopelessly out of hand and the business becomes a failure after a very short existence. Michel decides to leave Le Touquet and return to Marseille where he is loved and understood by all his friends in Ricky’s bar.
RETURN TO MARSELLLE is the fifth book in the series where Michel drives south from Le Touquet towards Marseille but is involved in a car accident on the autoroute which temporarily leaves him stranded in Lyon whilst he waits for his taxi to be repaired. The police however, see it as a golden opportunity for him to infiltrate a notorious gang who want to expand their criminal activities to Marseille. Michel faces one difficult but hilarious situation after another before he and Josette set off in the taxi home to Marseille.
SPRING IN MARSEILLE is the sixth title in the series and will be published and available in the Spring of 2008.

Peter
Child commenced his writing career in 1969 when he contributed 60 ‘one line’
comedy gags each week for an American Radio
show called ‘FUNNYBIRDS’, which starred Goldie Hawn and Phyllis
Diller. Then after meeting Terry Nation, the creator
of ‘DR. WHO’, he was introduced to
Alastair Scott-Johnson, the BBC Producer responsible for such classics as ‘THE
NAVY LARK’ and ‘HANCOCK’S HALF HOUR.’
As a result of this, the BBC commissioned a Radio comedy pilot, which Peter
co-wrote, called ‘THE MOTORWAY MEN’, starring Milo O’Shea, Jimmy Beck and
Bill Pertwee. Then followed a series of 8 more
episodes of ‘THE MOTORWAY MEN’ which had a
listening audience of over 5 million
at the time. He also contributed to the comedy sketch shows, ‘DON’T ASK
US’ and ‘I’M SORRY I’LL READ THAT
AGAIN’.
Then
he turned to writing books and produced three technical books on the subject of
Automotive Paint Finishes whilst he was the Quality Control Manager and Chief
Test Driver at Aston Martin Lagonda Ltd.
The books were sold world wide and are used
in many technical colleges, universities as well as major motor manufacturers
such as Jaguar Cars Ltd for training. He
then wrote ‘NOTES FOR GOOD DRIVERS’ and ‘NOTES FOR COMPANY DRIVERS’
for drivers of all ages and abilities in the hope that these books would make a
contribution to road safety. He used his training
as a private pilot, he has a multi engine rating, to carry forward
his ideas of ‘safety style’ driving,
which he believes has enabled him to drive
more than 3 million miles in the
Now
a full time author he has written 12 books,
5 technical and 7 novels, including the
Michel Ronay trilogy, which are amusing
stories about a French taxi driver in Marseille, which have been well received. His
latest novel, ‘ERIC THE ROMANTIC’ is
being considered by major film studios. He is currently writing another Michel
Ronay novel and more titles will follow this year.
